The next time you stroll through one of our beautiful streets, take a look at the lawns and exteriors of the home you see. If they “wow” you, don’t be surprised! Part of what makes Plantation Reserve Estates such a great place to live is our homeowners’ dedication to the look of their homes and the community as a whole. If you’re looking to spruce up the look of your home this fall, you can follow these easy tips to make it as beautiful as possible:
Prune overhanging trees. While they may not reach the same levels of seasonal color as their northern counterparts, leaves here in Florida still do fall! To prevent litter like leaves and seeds from dirtying your car, driveway or front porch, be sure to prune overhanging trees and keep them short throughout the fall. This also adds a nice, polished look to your home—which is perfect for this time of year!
Give your lawn a good end of summer mow. During the fall and winter months, your lawn probably won’t have to be mowed as often. Still, for good measure, it may be a good idea to give your lawn one more “end of summer” mow to keep it looking fresh and neat. Be sure to follow the basic lawn mowing rule—never remove more than one third of the total length of a blade, as thick can “shock” the grass and can prevent your lawn from looking rich and healthy.
Wash front facing windows and walls. Summer storms—which we’re quite familiar with here in Florida—can leave your home’s exterior walls and windows looking dirty, streaky and worn. Cleaning them in anticipation of the fall can be a great idea, since you likely won’t have to do it for at least several more months! Give your windows a good washing and pressure wash the front facing exterior walls of your home to keep it looking great for autumn and winter.
Add seasonal décor. Want to get creative in anticipation of the fall season? Deck your home out in seasonal décor and style! While you may already be itching to add warm colored quilts and pillows to the interior of your home, you can make the same impact on the exterior of your home by adding a few seasonal touches. These can include benches, warm colored flowers, a leafy wreath for your front door, and other small but effective touches.
Add a new coat of paint. While you can do this at any time of the year, many Florida homeowners choose to cooler fall months to go outdoors and paint the exterior of their home of front door. Doing so can give your home an instant makeover and improve the overall feel of guests’ first impressions!
Update your hardware. If you’re tired of the “same old thing,” but aren’t quite ready to completely change the look of your home’s exterior, updating the hardware of your door or frames of your windows can help you do the trick in a more subtle way.
